What are the best Rust monuments for beginners who are just starting off? Check out our guide now!
Monuments are home to the best loot in Rust and if you want to progress through a wipe faster, utilizing these landmarks is a must. Not only that, they also give you access to utilities and tools such as recyclers and refineries.
However, monuments are also hotspots for players and some of them have NPCs that are loaded with heavy weaponry. As a beginner, it might be daunting to set foot in these locations.
That’s why I have compiled the best Rust monuments for beginners that will give you the best loot with the lowest difficulty. Let’s dive right in.
Best Rust Monuments for Beginners
1. Dome

First off we got the Dome monument. Dome is the best Rust monument for beginners because of everything it offers and the low difficulty. For starters, Dome has a total of 6 Basic Crates. At the top, you will find 3 Miltary Crates. All of that loot and you don’t even need a single keycard.
As long as you have 11% radiation protection, you can get all of the loot in Dome. It is also overflowing with barrels of loot and oil. At the bottom of the dome, there are tons of red fuel barrels, and conveniently, there are two refineries only a few steps away.
One trip to the Dome in the early game and I can already craft at least 3 furnaces and a Level 1 workbench. Sometimes I even get lucky and find a primitive gun or two in the military crates.
This easily makes Dome one of the best monuments for early wipes in Rust.
2. Oxum’s Gas Station
The gas station is another excellent monument for beginners in Rust due to its abundance of loot that requires nothing to access. You can literally spawn naked near it and take all of the loot including basic crates, barrels, a military crate, and the much-needed green card in the office.
It also has a recycler at the back that you can use to turn items into metal fragments, scrap, and high-quality metal. Occasionally, I also find higher-tier loot, like weapons or tools, inside the building and around its premises, especially in the military crate. So always check if it has spawned.
But don’t just mindlessly rush into the gas station as sometimes players camp it or set traps. Be vigilant and check your surroundings and potential hiding spots.
3. Abandoned Supermarket
If you’re starving and running low on health, the Abandoned Supermarket is the monument that you need to visit as it is filled with food crates, basic loot crates, and barrels. Sometimes you can even find bandages or first aid kits in this area.
The supermarket offers a mix of low-risk looting and utility, and no radiation requirements making it ideal for beginners. This monument has a recycler too, allowing you to break down the scrap and components you’ve collected.
Just like the gas station, you can find a military crate and green card inside the supermarket which will give you access to better loot.
4. Sewer Branch

The Sewer Branch is the first Rust monument on our list, offering a bit of a challenge. With a little more risk, you will get a chance to get an inventory overflowing with loot. To fully explore and loot this monument, you would need a hatchet, a fuse, and a green keycard. Don’t forget your basic radiation protection as well. A hazmat suit or full burlap clothing would do.
Locate the building with the recycler and loot the barrels surrounding it. Then, use your hatchet or any other tool to break the wood on the recycler’s left side that’s blocking the entrance to the fuse box. Locate the fuse box and insert your fuse. Just beside it is the switch to toggle the power on.
Then proceed to the lower area of the sewer branch. Here you’ll find a tall metal tower with a broken ladder. Go inside and you’ll find medical crates and potential syringes. You can also climb this tower to get around 4 basic crates but the parkour is a bit challenging for newer players.
Look for a tunnel and go down. Proceed to the green keycard door and swipe your keycard here. Then you will gain access to a room filled with loot, a blue keycard, a recycler, and a refinery.
Fully looting the sewer branch will give you tons of loot. That’s why players contest this monument more than the previous ones. So don’t forget to bring a weapon and be ready for encounters when entering this monument.
5. Mining Outpost
The Mining Outpost is one of the easiest rust monuments for beginners. While it doesn’t offer the best loot, it certainly is quick and easy to take. You don’t need any keycards or radiation protection, you can just pick everything up and use the recycler to turn your loot into raw materials. You also have access to a repair bench here.
It comes with multiple loot Barrels and basic crates with a tray of vehicle parts outside. Occasionally, players camp this monument, especially during early wipes. So don’t bring any valuables when going here.
What I always do is place a sleeping bag near this monument. When I log in, I always respawn naked near the mining outpost, take all the loot, recycle, and get back to base as fast as I can.
It’s a low-risk play that can give you easy guaranteed loot.
