Streets of Tarkov is one of the most chaotic maps in Escape From Tarkov. The first time I dropped into this warzone, I was overwhelmed. 

Unlike other maps, Streets is a dense cityscape filled with towering buildings, tight alleyways, and open intersections. With PvP hotspots at every turn and loot scattered across the vast landscape, mastering this map is a different beast altogether.

If you’re planning to survive and thrive here, you’ll need more than just good aim. You’ll need map knowledge, an understanding of key loot locations, escape routes, and combat strategies to outmaneuver other players. In this guide, I’ll break down everything you need to know about the Streets of Tarkov map, so you can make the most of every raid.

Streets of Tarkov Map Guide: Map Overview

Streets of Tarkov is a large, war-torn city environment with a mix of high-rise buildings, commercial areas, and abandoned vehicles. Unlike other maps, its verticality and complexity create endless possibilities for engagements. Expect:

• Long sightlines – Snipers perched in windows, looking down at the streets.
• Tight interiors – Shops, apartments, and offices create close-quarters combat zones.
• Ambush spots – Rubble, buses, and blown-out buildings provide cover for hidden threats.
• Heavy Scav activity – AI patrol different zones, making certain areas unpredictable.

Best Loot Locations

If you’re looking to make money, knowing where to loot is critical. Here are the top loot spots:

Pinewood Hotel

• One of the best loot zones, but also a high-traffic PvP area.
• Features valuable electronics, rare barter items, and weapon spawns.
• Scavs and PMCs frequently check this spot, so be prepared for fights.

Concordia

• An apartment complex with multiple loot spawns inside.
• High-tier loot includes weapons, meds, and tech gear.
• Beware of campers, as this area has great angles for ambushes.

Cinema

• Great for rare tech spawns.
• Has a lot of dark corners, expect enemy players lurking inside.

Lexos Car Dealership

• Good loot in the garage and showroom, including electronics and barter items.
• Occasional rare spawns like GPUs and military tech.
• A hotspot for players, so always check your angles before looting.

Sparja Grocery Store

• Good food, meds, and scav loot.
• Less contested than other spots, making it a decent mid-raid loot location.

Best Loadouts for Streets of Tarkov

Your loadout should match your playstyle. Here’s what works best:

Close-Quarters Loadout (Aggressive Playstyle)

• Weapon: MP7, PP-19, or AK-74U with a suppressor.
• Armor: Class 4+ for surviving ambushes.
• Grenades: Flashbangs for clearing rooms.

Mid-Range Loadout (Balanced Playstyle)

• Weapon: M4A1, HK416, or RD-704 with a scope.
• Armor: Class 5+ to absorb more damage.
• Tactics: Move between buildings, avoiding open areas.

Sniper Loadout (Long-Range Playstyle)

• Weapon: SV-98, M700, or DVL-10.
• Armor: Lightweight armor to stay mobile.
• Positioning: Find an elevated position, stay hidden, and take shots at open targets. 

Kaban in Streets 

If you’re roaming Streets of Tarkov and hear a PKM rattling off rounds, you’ve probably stumbled into Kaban’s territory. Kaban is a Scav boss that holds down the Lexos area, which consists of an east and west building. 

This entire zone is heavily fortified with mounted machine guns and grenade launchers in multiple positions, making any approach risky.

Kaban’s Spawn & Guard Setup

Kaban spawns with seven to nine guards, all heavily armed. To make things worse, AI Scavs in the area will also fight for him, essentially turning the entire section into a war zone. If that wasn’t bad enough, sniper Scavs can patrol the rooftops, moving between vantage points to suppress you from above.

Adding to the difficulty, Claymore mines now cover most of the outer perimeter of Lexos. Before, players could enter from multiple angles, but now, the only safe entry points are:

• From the North (near Check 15)
• From the South (taxi spawn area)
• Using the Aspes key to unlock the front door

How to Kill Kaban

Fighting Kaban is actually manageable if you know what you’re doing. Since his guards love using mounted guns, your first priority should be throwing grenades to force them off. If you’re coming from the north, push straight into a Conex container and hold an angle while they funnel toward you. From the south, take control of a similar cover spot and don’t let them retake the mounted guns.

Kaban himself is slow but tanky, and once he’s exposed, he’ll try to push you. This is where grenades come in handy again. Toss one near his location to flush him out, then unload full-auto into him. If done correctly, he won’t even get a chance to use his PKM on you.

Best Loot Locations on Streets of Tarkov

Looting Streets of Tarkov effectively means knowing which areas are worth your time. There’s plenty of loot scattered across the map, but here’s a breakdown of the most valuable zones:

Southwest (Concordia & Lexos Area)

• Lexos: Tons of loot from Kaban and his guards, including rare medical items.
• Concordia Hotels: Excellent for valuable loot spawns and quest keys.
• Security Basement: Good Scav loot, security key room has some high-value spawns.

Southeast (Abandoned Factory Zone & Pinewood)

• Abandoned Factory Marked Room: RNG-dependent but can spawn high-tier loot.
• Pinewood Third Floor: Loose loot, toolboxes, med bags—nothing crazy but decent.

Northeast (Shopping Mall & Residential Areas)

• Mini Interchange: Tons of technical loot, food, and hideout items.
• Terror Group Offices: Rare loot spawns, safes, and scav loot.

Northwest (Tarbank & Check 15 Zone)

• Tarbank Building: Free safes and cash registers filled with rubles.
• Check 15: Tons of loose loot, plus an optional locked area with rare spawns.
• Check 13 Marked Room: High-value loot like weapons and rare items.
• Post Office: Free loose loot across three floors, no keys required.

Extraction Points on Streets of Tarkov

One of the best things about Streets of Tarkov is that its extractions are simple and don’t require a ton of setup. That said, there are a few that you’ll want to keep in mind for quick exits.

Universal Extracts (Always Available)

• Courtyard: If green smoke is up, you can extract here.
• Taxi: Requires cash, just like other car extracts.
• Klimov Street: Requires a green flare (cheap from Jaeger).

Standard Extracts (No Requirements)

• Ruined House (near the cinema)
• Crash Site (by the helicopter)
• Collapsed Crane (in construction)
• Exposition Exit (northwest corner of the map)
• Cardinal Apartment Complex (top level of the building)
• Stolbovoy Elevator (inside Beluga Restaurant, 3rd floor)

Co-op Extract

• Pinewood Hotel: Requires a player Scav and PMC to extract together.

Conclusion

The Streets of Tarkov map is a dense, high-stakes battlefield that rewards players who learn its layout. I used to avoid Streets due to its complexity, but once I memorized the hot zones, safe routes, and extract points, it became one of my favorite places to raid.

If you’re still learning, don’t stress. It takes time to grasp the flow of combat and looting. But once you do, Streets become one of the most rewarding maps in Tarkov.
